Is the DreamCloud Premier a Good Mattress for You?
To start, we put each of our mattresses through something called a “Rest Test,” where we lie down on the bed for an uninterrupted 15-minute power nap. This gives us a big-picture assessment of how it performs before we get into some of our more specific tests. Here’s how my colleague Amelia felt napping on the DreamCloud Premier mattress:
“The DreamCloud Premier offers a solid mix of pressure relief and support. Lying on this bed, I felt well-supported and uplifted — I didn’t sink much into the material at all. However, it wasn’t overly firm, which I appreciate as someone who prefers a softer bed. I think this bed worked especially well for sleeping on my back.”

Who I recommend the DreamCloud Premier mattress for
- The DreamCloud Premier should be a great choice for back sleepers. It provides nice support while allowing some sinkage for comfort and pressure relief. Its pocketed coils should offer enough support to keep your spine straight, which can help you avoid back pain.
- This mattress could be well-suited to couples. The foams in the top layers of the mattress do a great job of cutting down on motion transfer, so you won’t feel too disturbed by a restless partner on this bed.
- I really enjoy how luxurious this mattress feels. It has some high-quality materials, like its cashmere cover and Euro top.
Who I don’t recommend the DreamCloud Premier mattress for
- The mattress sleeps a little hot compared to other hybrid beds on the market. If you’re prone to overheating in your sleep, you might need to look for a mattress with more cooling materials, or invest in cooling sheets to pair with the DreamCloud Premier. - Strict side sleepers probably won’t get enough cushioning from this DreamCloud. If you spend all night in this position, the bed might not provide adequate pressure relief. How Firm is the DreamCloud Premier Mattress?
Now that you know which sleeping positions the DreamCloud Premier is best suited for, we can start to go into detail about how this mattress feels. Let’s get the party started by looking at the DreamCloud Premier’s firmness.
First, a heads up: firmness is subjective. Your body weight, shape, size, and personal preferences will all affect your impression of a mattress’s firmness – and the same is true for me! So just remember that my assessment isn’t the absolute authority here.
Based on my experience with the DreamCloud Premier, I ranked it around a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so the mattress is just a bit firmer than medium-firm.
When we look at the DreamCloud Premier’s construction, it’s clear why it has this firmness level. The mattress uses a combination of pressure-relieving foams and supportive coils to keep things from getting either too firm or too soft. The support of the coils balances out the gentleness of the foams, and vice versa – leading to a firmness that’s right around medium.

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Performance
Firmness can tell us a lot about a mattress, but it doesn’t tell us everything. To really determine whether a mattress is a good match for you, it’s also critical to think about factors like pressure relief and motion isolation. To give you an idea of how the DreamCloud performs in those areas, I ran it through a few tests. I’ll share those results in a moment, but first I’d like to share my thoughts on how this mattress performs for people of different weights.
Testing the DreamCloud Premier Mattress in Different Sleeping Positions
Your body weight and preferred sleep position are going to affect how a mattress performs for you and how it feels. Take a look at some of my recommendations below for different body types.
Is the DreamCloud Premier a Good Mattress for Light Sleepers (Under 130 pounds)?
- Light Back Sleepers – I think the Premier is a nice choice for light back sleepers, especially those who suffer from back pain. Its firm build provides strong support to promote a neutral spinal alignment for these sleepers.
- Light Side Sleepers – I think this bed is a bit too firm for these sleepers. I think they won’t get the sinkage at the hips and shoulders they need to feel comfortable.
- Light Stomach Sleepers – I think this bed will work nicely for these sleepers, as it will feel like a true firm mattress to them. They should feel their hips propped up in line with their shoulders by this mattress’s springy support.
Is the DreamCloud Premier a Good Mattress for Average Weight Sleepers (130 to 250 pounds)?
- Average Weight Back Sleepers – These sleepers should be quite happy on this bed. Mattresses on the slightly firmer side, like this one, are great for back sleepers because they tend to keep their spines nice and straight.
- Average Weight Side Sleepers – I’d steer these sleepers to a softer mattress so they can get better pressure relief around their pressure points. I typically recommend a mattress that’s a 6 or below on the firmness scale for side sleepers.
- Average Weight Stomach Sleepers – I think most average weight stomach sleepers should be happy on this bed. However, if you are on the heavier side of average, or suffer from back pain, you’d be better suited to an even firmer bed that’ll prevent your hips from sinking out of line with your shoulders.
Is the DreamCloud Premier a Good Mattress for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 pounds)?
- Heavy Back Sleepers – I think this mattress will work nicely for these sleepers. For a mattress to be good for heavy people, it has to have sturdy support, and the Premier has just that.
- Heavy Side Sleepers – I also like this mattress for heavy side sleepers. A mattress will feel a bit softer to heavy people than it would to average or lightweight people, so heavy side sleepers should get the firmness level they need on this bed.
- Heavy Stomach Sleepers – I don’t think the Premier is quite right for heavy stomach sleepers. I’d steer these sleepers to a firmer mattress that will better support their hips, like one of our best mattresses for heavy people.
DreamCloud Premier Mattress Pain Relief Performance
A mattress that offers great pressure relief will also alleviate pain. In case you haven’t come across this term before, let’s define what we’re talking about when it comes to pressure relief. Briefly, this refers to a bed’s ability to alleviate tension at sensitive areas such as the hips, lower back, and shoulders. It tells you whether a mattress will ease pressure on various parts of your body so you can sleep comfortably in your preferred sleeping position.
To test the pressure relief on the DreamCloud Premier, I used a handy-dandy pressure map. I placed this device on top of the mattress, hopped on top, and let the map track my body’s force as I tried different positions. Low-pressure areas are highlighted in blue, and the highest pressure areas show up in red.
Back Pain — As you can see in the maps above, the map is pretty much all blue at my back, which indicates low pressure when back sleeping. Personally, I felt like my back was particularly supported while laying on my back, as the soft foam layers filled in at my lumbar region and the springy coils kept my spine nice and straight. This makes it a good pick for back sleepers with back pain. Side sleepers with back pain will want a softer option, and a lot of stomach sleepers with back pain may want a firmer choice.
Shoulder Pain— I think this mattress is good for shoulder pain if you’re a back sleeper. I think side sleepers won’t get the cushioning they need to help alleviate shoulder pain and you can see pressure forming on the map in this position. I’d recommend these sleepers choose a softer bed, like one of our best memory foam mattresses. I think stomach sleepers with shoulder pain may want a firmer option.
Hip Pain— I think the Premier is good for back sleepers and light to average weight stomach sleepers with hip pain, but all side sleepers with hip pain should opt for a substantially softer bed to help cushion such a large, sensitive joint.
DreamCloud Premier Mattress Performance for Couples
If you sleep with a partner, there are a few additional features you’ll want to look out for when shopping for a new mattress. You’ll want to make sure it absorbs your partner’s movements, sleeps nice and cool, is good for sex, and has sturdy edges. Let’s see how the Premier stacked up.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer refers to whether you’ll feel a sleeping partner’s movements if they shift around during the night. This assessment is extra important for folks who share a bed with a partner, child, or pet.
To test motion transfer on the DreamCloud Premier, I dropped a 10-pound steel ball onto the mattress from 4 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches. These heights mimic various movements, from run-of-the-mill tossing and turning to getting out of bed or jumping on top of it. Next, I measured the disturbance caused by each of these drops. The bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance!
Some hybrid mattresses do a good job of isolating motion transfer, while others… not so much. It all comes down to whether the motion-absorbing foams or the bouncy coils have a bigger impact. So I was curious to see how the DreamCloud Premier would perform.
These are great motion transfer results. The memory foam in the top layers of the mattress does a nice job of tamping down motion and preventing disturbance across the bed. Additionally, when I had my colleague get into bed with me and move around, I hardly felt her movements on my side of the bed at all. This tells me the DreamCloud Premier could be a good choice for couples.
Sex
The best mattress for sex is one that has some nice bounce and responsiveness. The DreamCloud Premier may not be the bounciest mattress out there, but it certainly has an “on top of” feel that results in easy mobility. So, it should work pretty well for sex.I’d say the combination of good motion isolation and bounce make this mattress one of the best I’ve tested for couples.
Cooling
I wouldn’t say the DreamCloud Premier is a particularly cooling mattress. Its coils should allow for air to flow throughout the bed. However, it isn’t made with any specialized cooling technology, so if you tend to sleep hot, you might want to check out one of our best cooling mattresses instead.
Edge Support
The DreamCloud Premier has nice edge support, which lets sleepers utilize the full surface of the mattress. This is another reason couples might like this mattress. It will allow them to maximize every square inch of the mattress so they don’t feel cramped.
What Is the DreamCloud Premier Mattress Made Of?
The DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid, bed-in-a-box mattress that combines several layers of memory and poly foams with pocketed coils. The combo of foams and coils creates a balance of comfort and support. The Euro top construction lets you sink into the top of the bed, while the bounce from the coils means it’s still easy to switch positions during the night.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s inside of the DreamCloud Premier!
Cover — The DreamCloud Premier has a Mongolian cashmere blend cover. It’s lightweight and moisture-wicking.
Euro Top — Next up is the Trueloft Euro top layer. The Euro top is quilted with one inch of high loft memory foam and one inch of soft support foam. This provides some body-contouring and pressure relief.
Comfort Layer — Below the Euro top is a 2.5-inch layer of contouring memory foam that offers slow sinkage and pressure relief.
Support Layer — Next up, there’s a support layer made of 8.5 inches of pocketed coils. These coils provide decent mobility, so sleepers shouldn’t feel stuck in the mattress. The coils are individually wrapped, so they move independently of one another. This can help reduce motion transfer and promote airflow, which could appeal to couples.
Base Layer — Finally, there’s a base layer made of one inch of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t have much of an impact on the bed’s feel, but it does provide a firmer surface for the innerspring coils to press off of.
DreamCloud Premier Mattress Unboxing and Off-Gassing
The DreamCloud Premier is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it will ship to you compressed in a box. You’ll need to unbox it at home, and I’d recommend doing so in the bedroom you’re going to use it in — you don’t want to lug around a big mattress. Additionally, I’d recommend unboxing it with another person — this mattress is quite heavy. Lastly, you’ll want to wait about 24 hours after unboxing before you use this mattress so that it can off-gas, or release any odors trapped in the foams during compression.

My Final Thoughts about the DreamCloud Premier
Wowza, you’ve nearly made it to the end of this review! Before we go our separate ways, just one question remains: Is the DreamCloud Premier right for you? I can’t answer that on your behalf, but I can share a few of my favorite, and not so favorite, things about this bed.
My Favorite Things About the DreamCloud Premier Mattress
First up, this feels like a true luxury mattress. From the cashmere cover to the Euro top, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck with this bed. I really like how this mattress combines sturdy support with cozy pressure relief — making it a great choice for back sleepers.
I also love how easy it is to move around on the DreamCloud, which combination sleepers should appreciate. And finally, I love that the DreamCloud isolates motion well despite its bounce. That, plus its firm edge support, makes me think most couples will also be fans of this DreamCloud.
My Complaints About the DreamCloud Premier Mattress
Though I am a big fan of this bed, one feature I’m not crazy about is the fact that it sleeps a little hot. If you’re an especially hot sleeper, you might want to avoid this bed. Its layers of memory foam trap some body heat.
As someone who sleeps on their side most of the night, I don’t think this is a great match for side sleepers and won’t provide the sinkage and pressure relief they need.
I’ll also note here that a few DreamCloud customers have complained about the return process being slow or difficult. I don’t have any personal experience returning a DreamCloud, and most customers have received their refunds or replacements after a bit of back and forth. But, this might be something to note if a slower return process is an issue for you.

DreamCloud Premier vs Nectar
- The Nectar is an all-foam, bed-in-a-box mattress. While the DreamCloud Premier is also a bed-in-a-box mattress, it combines foams with coils for a hybrid construction.
- The Nectar has a thick layer of memory foam on top that allows sleepers to sink deeply into the mattress and enjoy a ton of pressure relief and body contouring. Sleepers will feel more “in” the bed than on top of it. It’s harder to switch positions on the Nectar, because it doesn’t have the bounce that the DreamCloud Premier does.
- Thanks to its thick memory foam layer, I really like the Nectar for side sleepers. You shouldn’t feel pressure at the shoulder or hip in this position. The DreamCloud Premier is also a nice option for side sleepers, but it’s not quite as pressure-relieving as the softer Nectar.

How is the DreamCloud Premier shipped?
DreamCloud offers free shipping. The DreamCloud Premier will ship to you in five to 10 business days and will arrive compressed in a box. You should allow a few hours for off-gassing once you unwrap your new mattress. If you decide to return your DreamCloud Premier, DreamCloud does offer a full refund in many cases.
Do you need a box spring with a DreamCloud?
No, a box spring isn’t necessary for sleeping on the DreamCloud. The mattress is designed to work on a slatted bed frame. DreamCloud does offer an adjustable base that works with this bed, you can learn more about it in our DreamCloud adjustable base review.
How long does a DreamCloud mattress last?
Most online mattresses last for approximately five to seven years. The DreamCloud premier is a hybrid mattress, so it will last longer than a foam mattress. I’d recommend checking your DreamCloud for signs of wear after about five years.
Does DreamCloud offer a warranty?
Yes, DreamCloud offers a lifetime warranty on all it’s mattresses. This is a great sign that DreamCloud is confident in the durability of their products.
Does DreamCloud offer a sleep trial period?
Yes, DreamCloud offers a 365-night trial on the DreamCloud premier. A full year is a comparatively long trial period, which is another good sign that DreamCloud is confident in this mattress.
